Medicare Advantage vs Medicare Supplement Plans

Are you in Oklahoma?
Oh, now I undertand why I get insurance while my friend doesn’t
Unless you simply can’t afford it the only choice should be Medigap Plan G Supplement, even with the rate increases (unless they really get insane). You should be able to find competitively priced “bundled” extra monthly insurance for dental, vision and hearing that won’t break the bank. The problem with Advantage is no matter how healthy you are “right now” (for me, mid-60’s and still working), and have been for the past 20 years, there is zero guarantee you are going to be that at 70, or 75, or 80. All it takes is one catastrophic disease like cancer or heart that could break the bank and still lead to medically-induced bankruptcy. With the supplement plan you pay the yearly deductible and the monthly premiums and you are worry free. The bills are handled. I liken it to paying for car and home owner’s insurance. I’ve paid of tens of thousands of dollars in my lifetime for the coverages but rarely had to use them. Do I feel some sense of anger that I paid all that money for hardly any return? No, because I’m glad I had them for the rare times I needed it.
Another very important point that’s glossed over in a lot of these vids is peace of mind. The stress, anxiety and worry factor with Advantage is very high. From the vids I’ve seen there may be many times you’ll have to fight with your insurance carrier over denied procedures, doctor/specialist access, and billing. Something I certainly do NOT want to ever face in my sunset years.
Finally, from the vids I’ve seen (and there have been a ton), it is extremely difficult to switch from an Advantage Plan to Plan G. If you pick Advantage, have a future medical condition that’s bleeding you dry and need to switch to G, you may not be able to. It’s much easier to switch down (Plan G is considered a premium plan) to a lesser plan (Advantage) than switch up. There will be gatekeeper’s you’ll have to go through to switch up (yet another layer of stress with Advantage). So, when you make your initial choice you are really making a “future” choice. If you believe you’ll stay healthy and will never incur huge medical bills until you die pick Advantage, and I hope you have good luck.
My mom had Medicare and AARPβs Unitied Healthcare. She raved about it often.
So if your service is free how do you make money or get paid ??
